'Ralph Hotere: Black Light' is a hand crafted book that was designed for a third year typography paper. The main concepts I focused on while designing this were 'contemporary' and 'Maori culture'. The colours red and black were chosen as the main colour palette to reflect Hotere's art work and Maori culture. To keep the overall appearance of the book formal and clean, I created lots of white space and used a consistent 3 column layout throughout. The dust jacket also doubles as a typographic poster once unfolded.
